Austen citing:
Aung San Suu Kyi, The Voice of Hope

Burmese heroine and Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi during her long years under house arrest by the military dictatorship in her country, was asked by her biographer and interviewer Alan Clements if there were any favourite books she had with her. She said,

There were a number of books I liked quite a lot. I enjoyed Nehru’s autobiography. I had an old copy of Pride & Prejudice which I enjoyed reading again ... just for the enjoyment of the language more than anything else. A lot of the books were purely in the line of work, as it were – politics, philosophy, etc.

From The Voice of Hope,
Interviews with Aung San Suu Kyi by Alan Clements.

She has obviously read to some effect, given the simplicity and power of her own speeches and writing.
