I am so thrilled that the vintage clothes fad of the 1990s has turned out to be a stayer...Of course, many of us have been dressing like that for years, anyway: it’s just so brilliant the way the term ‘vintage’ has dignified it all. It’s such a snobby, pretentious kind of word. I love it. 

‘I love your bag...’ someone might say to you at a cocktail party. ‘Yes,’ you reply, with a superior expression quite worthy of Lady Catherine de Bourgh, ‘it’s a vintage piece.’
